An ‘unknown’ project is also in development
Detective Pikachu 2 game may get a release soon as a strong hint was spotted by Nintendo Life yesterday. Creatures Inc and Pokémon TCG Development Division senior programmer Johnathan Murphy’s LinkedIn profile shows that he’s been working on two projects. ‘Using Unity/C#, worked on an unannounced project and one in development, Detective Pikachu 2’. Despite the first title being unknown, the second one is surprising after all. Murphy has been working in his current position for five years.

Detective Pikachu 2 is said to conclude the first title’s story. Fans have gotten to hear so little as the developers were silent since the announcement of the game’s release. However, a job listing came out last February showing that the game was in development. And now, Murphy’s job listing revealed that the game was in development and crawling to be completed soon. Though, no information came out on when Detective Pikachu 2 will be released. As the Pokemon Company is putting its primary focus on its upcoming title ‘Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet’, the long-anticipated Detective Pikachu 2 may get delayed.
The first title came out in 2016 on the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console. Later, a big screen adaptation titled ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’ was released in 2019 starring Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newtonvand others. Rated 6.5 on IMDb, the movie saw quite a success and collected a worldwide total of $433.9 million. After the announcement of the second installment of the Detective Pikachu game in 2019, The Pokémon Company seemed to forget the project. However, good news finally came out as the game is soon to be released.
