It has now been confirmed that a new Iron Man game is in development after much speculation in recent months. The project is now in its early stages of production at the Montreal-based studio of EA Motive, who just disclosed that it will be working with Marvel Games on it.
Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on the cult hit Guardians of the Galaxy from Square Enix, is in charge of the project. He stated, “It’s an honor and a privilege to have the chance to make a video game based on one of the most iconic superheroes in entertainment today.”
Since the new game is still in pre-production, we probably won’t hear any significant updates or see any gameplay for a while. It is unusual for a game to be announced this early in its timeline but rumors at the D23 Disney Celebrations could have compelled Electronic Arts to act.
In an interesting development, the update also makes clear that the Iron Man project is just the first of “many new games” being developed by EA and Marvel. While the Black Panther video game rumors are well known, it would be interesting to see what another superhero-themed products EA and Marvel are developing.
