Slime Rancher 2, a sequel to the original Slime Rancher has been a staggering success. The game has sold over 300k units within just a few days of release.
Nick Popovich; CEO of Monami Park and director of the Slime Rancher series posted this announcement on Twitter.
Wow! In just a few days Slime Rancher 2 has sold more than 300k copies, and reached #1 on Steam, w/a 95% positive score across over 6k reviews!
Most importantly, this was all achieved with ZERO crunch, while offering top tier benefits and unlimited PTO to our team ❤️

Slime Rancher 2 launched early access less than a week ago and seems to have surpassed the developers’ expectation by reaching this huge milestone.
Just a few days back, Nick went on to Twitter and said,
“I had a pipe dream in my head that we could sell 100k copies of Slime Rancher 2 in the first 24 hrs if the stars aligned. And we did that in less than 6 hrs. No idea where this crazy train is headed but so grateful to have a chance to ride it. Thank you all so very much.”
Nick’s “pipe dream” definitely came true as the game sold more than 300,000 copies on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Game Store combined. The sales figure is likely to reach even higher as time goes on.
Popovich also pointed out in his recent Tweet that they were able to attain this success with “Zero Crunch”. If you don’t know what “crunch” is, let me explain in layman’s terms, crunch is compulsory overtime during the development of a video game, often uncompensated. The video game industry has been heavily criticized in recent years for practicing this culture.
Currently, Slime Rancher 2 is only available to play on PC and Xbox series X/S consoles. The original Slime Rancher also launched exclusively on PC and Xbox but expanded its audience to PS4 and Nintendo Switch later down the line, it is safe to assume we will see the same treatment with Slime Rancher 2.
