Overwatch 2 revealed a new tank-class hero ‘Ramattra’

In the recent Overwatch 2 Grand Finals event, a new character for Overwatch 2 was revealed by Blizzard Entertainment. This new character Ramattra is tank-class. Blizzard wrote on their official site, “Originally a war machine, Ramattra shed his munitions for a shield to protect his people by promoting peace and tranquility. However, Ramattra’s story is one of hardships, trauma, and a magnified view of humanity’s harsh realities.”

According to the lore, Ramattra is the leader of the Omnics who tried to make a peaceful resolution between humans and the Omnics, which didn’t go quite as planned. The game’s lead narrative designer Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie commented on this, saying, “Omnics and humans have tried to coexist, but as you’ve seen in the lore, that has not been going well for them, Ramattra is tired of waiting and has grown impatient. He has formed this organization with some allies to fight for the freedom of the Omnic people and win their safety at any cost.” In a recent trailer posted by Blizzard, we can see Ramattra’s backstory.

As for the gameplay, Ramattra can transform into two forms. One is the Omnic form, where he defends his team by creating a barrier and firing projectiles. The other one is the Nemesis form which turns him even bigger and more aggressive. He plays his role on the offense, rushing enemies with powerful melee attacks capable of breaking opponent’s barriers. Players will have to hone their skills in using these two forms tactically, as Ramattra will become a bigger target for enemies in Nemesis mode, for instance, Ana’s sleep dart or Zenyatta’s orb of discord.

After the release of Overwatch 2, Ramattra is the fourth new hero introduced by the developers. Ramattra will be available in Season 2 and will come with a new map. Battle pass owners can unlock Ramattra immediately, while the free version players have to grind their levels to unlock the character.
